Amanda Hocking

Came across another interesting article about a self pub author, Amanda Hocking. It turns out she is the writer, that I had heard about some time ago. Rejected by numerous agents repeatedly, she set out to self publish, it sounds almost out of desperation. She has sold what sounds like millions of books, has made a fortune and now is partnering with traditional publishers for her subsequent work. It further sounds to me, that her success kind of marked an undeniable point of legitimacy for self publishing. From some of what she explained in the article, one of the things that stood out to me was that she would encourage her readers to notify her of typos. Kind of tells me that her readers were not as concerned about proper grammar as they were what ever motivated them to buy the books.
