There is an ecstasy that marks the summit of life...

There is an ecstasy that marks the summit of life, and beyond which life cannot rise. And such is the paradox of living, this ecstasy comes when one is most alive, and it comes as a complete forgetfulness that one is alive.
JACK LONDON, The Call of the Wild

Stumbled across some Jack London quotes while working on something else the other day.

This one really makes me think. I have been there.

Unfortunately,  I am not sure it is possible to entirely live there, but when that moment comes, it is unmistakable. How he put it into words itself captivates my interest as it should anyone who takes the time to read it.

A little ironic for me to put it into words yet again, given my history with overindulging in that which takes away from the enjoyment of life...

Slow down, look around at what I am missing while I bury my head in a phone or drown myself in someone else's idiocy. Is it worth it? Who would disagree with a resounding no? I suppose recognition is somewhere on the path to restoration and the pursuit of that which is worthwhile.

Here is to making more of an effort to achieve Jacks summit as often as possible and trying not to do it alone.
